An entrepreneur’s journey begins in your heart.  You cultivate a desire to make a difference and then take action to do so.  There are many great examples of entrepreneurs that have gone before us.  It would be the best interest of the person that wants to become an entrepreneur to study and research about those successful entrepreneurs.   It included readings from three great and profound books:  The Ministry of Business  by Steven A. Hitz and James W. Ritchie,  Mastery  by George Leonard, and  A Field Guide for the Hero’s Journey  by Jeff Sandefer and Robert Sirico. These books helped to change my life and caused me to look at things in ways I had never looked at them before. Along with the books, each week was filled with fascinating readings and case studies of different individuals. Based on what you read in the first two pages (pages 3 and 4), why are virtue and integrity so vital to an economy? Not everyone is so complacent. Markets rely on rules and laws, but those rules and laws in turn depend on truth and trust. Conceal truth or erode trust, and the game becomes so unreliable that no one will want to play. Virtue and integrity are the bases of trust. We cannot trust the man or woman who lacks morals or is unwilling to live up to the morals he or she claims to espouse. Interestingly, Handy says that markets rely on rules and laws that depend on truth and trust; I would argue that if all men and women had virtue and integrity, rules and laws would be unnecessary. Trust, in particular, is important to a free market. I am more likely to spend if I trust a merchant; I am more likely to spend if I feel secure; I am more likely to embark on an endeavor if I trust I will not be cheated. Remember, the ways we see things are a combination of what filters others have placed in our minds. These filters, ideas, beliefs, opinions and teachings get into our minds when we are very young and color and form the way we perceive or see things and issues. That is why so many of us think just like our parents think on so many issues when we are young. The first thing we need to understand about money is that is not evil. Money is neither good nor bad. The Love of money or the obsession with accumulating money from others unrighteously, no matter what the method, may be evil, but money in and of itself is neither good nor evil.
